The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Car You're Dreaming Of

We already knew that The Simpsons was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only destination where fans can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. However, whether players will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons car the community is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

While many gamers would undoubtedly love to face off behind the wheel of The Homer—the notoriously impractical car Homer built personally in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. Not even receiving the massive SUV, the enormous truck showcased in the tenth season. Instead, fans will obtain the family's everyday well-worn sedan, which has been in the family since 1989. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it stands as an iconic symbol of the series. And for players who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the Simpson family car uses the identical collision model as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the only customization item from the series arriving in the game. The event will additionally feature a series of challenges to unlock more goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the ideal pastries!"

While the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is any indication, it seems fans will also get rims with a television displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event coincides with the extensive Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a completely new playable area of Springfield, in addition to a 30-day Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration begins on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
