Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has apologised to supporters for his conduct when taken off in Sunday's intense El Clasico victory.

He was substituted in the second half and expressed his frustration by walking immediately off the pitch.

Vinicius later returned to the bench and, after his side's 2-1 win, attempted to approach Barça's opposing player during unsavoury after the game scenes.

"Today I want to say sorry to all the Real Madrid fans for my reaction when I was replaced in the derby," the player wrote on his account.

"Just as I have previously expressed during today's training, I would like to express regret anew to my colleagues, the organization, and the leadership.

"Sometimes passion takes over me because I constantly desire to win and assist my team. My competitive character comes from the affection I feel for this team and each thing it represents."

Vinicius moved to the Spanish capital from Brazil in the year 2018 for a significant fee and has scored over a century of strikes in numerous matches.

But his future in the La Liga is uncertain with rumors in lately suggesting that Los Blancos would contemplate letting the 25-year-old move on if they got a good proposal.

When he was taken off on that day, cameras from network Dazn recorded him remarking: "Again me! I'm exiting the club! It's preferable if I depart, I'm going."

In his most recent post on social media, the athlete said: "I promise to keep fighting constantly for the welfare of the club, as I have acted since the very beginning."
