James Gunn's Man of Steel Lands on HBO Max This Week
A mere 70 days after its theatrical debut, the new Superman arrives for streaming on HBO Max very soon.
Corenswet confirmed the news on his Instagram account with a selfie of his TV displaying the film on the streamer’s homepage. He playfully tagged his colleague Sara Sampaio with a shout-out to her character Eve Teschmacher, while Gunn amplified the announcement on X, confirming the movie arrives Friday, Sept. 19. Warner Bros. Pictures validated the announcement shortly after in an formal announcement.
Interactive Homepage Overhaul
To mark Superman’s homecoming, HBO Max is launching a special themed interface packed with interactive features. Subscribers will notice news-inspired interface design, a dedicated Superman content area showcasing Superman-related content, and easter egg pathways across the main screen that take viewers into a villain-inspired interactive space.
Box Office Success
Superman surpassed key benchmarks during its run, such as the highest opening weekend for a Superman movie in history. It even beat Barbie in joining the Two Million Member film community in a mere 45 days.
Upcoming Projects
Although some may be split on its take on the character or the finale, Superman has established a solid first step in DC's new universe. A sequel titled Man of Tomorrow is in the works, starring David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor seemingly teaming up against an new adversary. The film is expected to shoot next year and release in theaters on July 9, 2027.
For now, viewers can stream Superman on the streaming service beginning Friday.
