Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Challenges Are Way Too Hard
The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.
Users have commenced using personalized games set up using the custom game tool to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Objectives
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four categories of assignments, but while the majority merely grant outfits and select equipment, finishing the gun missions is the only way of getting twelve from the forty-one main guns available in the game.
Some of these gated guns could shortly make their appearance on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash on Reddit
On Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This mission is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and only works at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you want to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Extremely Difficult Task
Another Reddit user pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with sniper rifles
This is challenging enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and perhaps a classic map at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.
The Workaround
Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the spirit of the game.
However, when doing the challenges in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a private match so allies are not impaired?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, some players simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
Currently, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these demanding multiplayer missions, hoping for a fairer overall gameplay in coming revisions.
